03/09/2025 - Spring Forward
Today's Rating: 7/10
Song of the Day: Gold on the Ceiling - The Black Keys
Current Book: Revenge of the Tipping Point - Malcolm Gladwell
Yesterday was overall a pretty great day! I did not have to do any work which means the base score will be a 5/10 unless something horrible happens.
An opinion that I can not tell if popular/unpopular is that Spring Forward is one o my favorite days of the year. Having the clocks go forward by one hour means two things:
- You will wake up one hour earlier
- You get one extra hour of daylight in the afternoons/evenings
The first bullet-point is one that most people get stuck on I feel since they may lose an hour of sleep. As someone that struggles with sleeping in general, that doesn't really affect me. However, the second point is why it's my favorite. An extra hour of daylight in the evenings means an extra hour of daylight for tennis, an extra hour of daylight for walks, an extra hour of daylight for errands etc... Obviously, I most looking forward to the benefits it will bring to after work tennis.

Maddie and I took a road trip yesterday to Baton Rouge for one of our friend's engagement party. As someone who generally dreads these events, I had a surprisingly good time. The concept for the party was fun and easy for people that don't like/aren't good at talking. It was a pottery-painting party where all of the items would be used to furnish their house. We had a good time talking with some of the other attendees as well as some old friends who also came. I'm pretty happy with how my piece came out:

After the party, we went shopping at Trader Joe's to grab some CRITICAL items since we don't have a Trader Joe's near us (I'm gonna get in trouble for the emphasis on critical above). Kirsten and Frankie picked up Thai food and brought it to their house. We headed that way and caught up with them for a few hours before making the two hour drive home (thank you for watching the girls mom!).
We got home around 8 PM and watched one episode of White Lotus before heading to bed for the night. I only read five or so pages of my book before falling asleep.
Thanks for reading and see you tomorrow!
