03/10/2025 - Normal Day

Song of the Day: Devil Like Me - Rainbow Kitten Surprise
Current Book: Revenge of the Tipping Point - Malcolm Gladwell
Yesterday was the first "normal" day that I feel I've had in a little while. I slept fine, had an average day at work, did some chores, and watched TV. I honestly can not remember the last time I had a day like that. Not that it has been super long or anything, I just have a bad memory (I'm guessing a week or so ago).
I got out of bed a bit later than usual around 7:15/7:30 and proceeded to do my normal routine of grabbing coffee and starting on the post for yesterday. I checked my chats/emails at work and nothing had come up.

I had a couple of service tickets I had to look into today, but they were not critical so I could take my time on looking through them. We also had PI planning yesterday (another wonderful term/event from Agile). Essentially, PI planning (Program Increment Planning) is a two day long meeting where we plan out the next 12 weeks of work for the program/teams. This is mostly a meeting for the higher-ups, but they do request that we attend (but specifically request that we multitask with our actual work).

There was a lunch break built into the meeting at 11 AM, so I went on my daily walk. My mom joined me for today, and in total, we walked 3.32 miles in 59 minutes. Maddie and I had picked up a couple of requests for her at Trader Joe's on Sunday, so I gave those to her before she left. The rest of the day, I spent waiting the clock out at work. Maddie got home around 3:45 (4:45 EST), so I decided to shut my computer early.
One of the most dreaded tasks of my existence is mowing, and unfortunately, my favorite time of year (spring forward) typically coincides with me needing to start mowing. I had my first mow of the season yesterday which took me a little over an hour to do both the front and back yards. We will soon get to that time of the year when moving feels like this:

After mowing, I showered and watched some TV with Maddie for the remainder of the day. We got caught up on the White Lotus Season 3, and then started to get caught up on Severance Season 2 (we had not watched since Episode 2).
We ended up heading to bed around 9:15, and I read a few chapters of my book. I'm really enjoying the book and the content is quite interesting. Last night's chapters was discussing how certain Ivy League colleges use athletic programs as one of the cornerstones for controlling demographic proportions in their student bodies. I ended up closing the book around 9:45 to go to sleep for the night.
Thanks for reading and see you tomorrow!
