First day of my four day weekend was a great mix of having stuff to do and not having too much to do. The boss-man (Maddie) had spent some time building out a list for me once she realized I had Thursday off .

Maddie when she saw my Thursday open up

I'm joking mostly. It was nice to have some things to keep my occupied since I get really bored. The list consisted of the following:

  • Old Navy returns
  • Amazon returns (UPS)
  • Fix the wobbly guest room fan
  • Go through shorts to see what can be donated
  • Fill up the dog food containers
  • Snake the washing machine drain
  • Clean out the dryer vent

I started with the stuff I could do around the house. I found five old pairs of shorts that were too large for me and put them in the donate box. Next, I filled up the dog food containers since they were running low. Both tasks were fairly simple/easy. I typically like to start lists with the easiest items to get the ball rolling as I feel that gives me momentum for some of the harder tasks.

The next thing I looked into was the wobbly guest room fan. This has been a lingering issue that I have briefly looked into before but never resolved. After painstakingly finding the breaker to switch off the circuit that the guest fan was connected to (which took 15+ minutes and a bunch of trial and error), I disconnected the decorative housing around the mount. I then flipped the breaker back on so that I could see where the wobble was happening at. This helped a ton, and I realized one of the screws connected the fan to the ceiling had gotten loose. After switching the breaker back off, I tightened that screw (as well as all of the other ones). I flipped the breaker back on to check and lo and behold the fan is much less wobbly:

I did not remember to take a before video unfortunately, but this is a drastic improvement. After feeling the success of that one, I tackled the next larger item on my list: snaking the washer drain. I've done this a few times now, and it's not hard just tedious. I got quite a bit of hair out of there, and the washer is draining much better now.

It was 10 AM around this time, so I started on some of the out and about errands. I stopped at UPS to drop off two returns for Maddie. Apparently, a few minutes prior someone had dropped off a dirty diaper in one of the trash cans, and it was stinking up the place so the employees were dealing with that. Next up, I drove over to Old Navy to return some clothes for Maddie as well. Since it was just me, , I was able to get in and out in less than five minutes. I decided to check out the tennis courts since I was on that side of town. My mom was having one of her weekly lessons, so I decided to crash it. The tennis instructor (Sarah) let me hit on her side against my mom which was fun. I also got to participate in the legendary gossip that occurs during these lessons (which I think is 50% of the enjoyment for my mom). I then asked if my mom wanted to buy me lunch for my services (the 10 or so balls I hit as part of her lesson). She begrudgingly accepted, and we had a nice lunch at Koal's. We shared a burger and brisket baked potato, and I think it was a pleasant lunch.

I had forgotten about cleaning out the dryer vent, so I tackled that when I got home. I don't have detailed photos of everything I did, but it was quite the clean up. Maddie sent me a video on how to do it which consisted of attaching a plastic bag to a leaf blower and turning it on inside the vent. I also scraped off some of the more stuck pieces inside the vent. I forgot to take photos of the before/after of the vent itself, but here is the area behind the dryer:

I then proceeded to lay on the couch for the next several hours until tennis at 530 with Edwin. We had a fun match, but I hit myself square in the calf trying to do a tweener. My calf has felt right on the verge of cramping since then. Also, I apparently injured the other leg's knee at some point as well.

I got home and had a hodge-podge dinner before turning in for the night.

Thanks for reading and see you tomorrow!
