First day of what I knew would be a fairly long week at work. This week I have late night maintenance twice (Monday and Wednesday) and have an additional change that I'm rolling out Wednesday. So I have a fairly long Wednesday night to look forward to I guess.

A big clap of thunder woke me up early yesterday morning around 5 AM. After rolling around for twenty or so minutes, I decided to just get up and get a start on my day. I had a decent amount of prep work that I needed to do for yesterday evening's maintenance, so I decided to get this out of the way early in the morning (which you'd think would be a smart course of action but more on this later). I got all of the prep work completed in a few hours and then worked on a few personal chores that needed to get done:
- Changing the rave light above the washer/dryer
- Dishes
- Submitting my travel notification
For Item 3, I have to let my employer know whenever I leave the country even if I don't plan on working or bringing company equipment. Obviously, I'm not the biggest fan of this requirement.
After I wrapped that up, it was time for daily standup on my team. I gave my updates about what I did on Friday and the prep work I had done that morning. No one had any issue with that (more on this later). I left for my walk and decided to go for a bit of a longer one. In total, I walked 4 miles in 70 minutes. I came home and was hoping to wait out the clock until the end of the workday. My boss had other plans.
Despite me mentioning it in standup and having several hours after that, he informed me that I needed to redo the prep work as a certain software was not meant to be included in the latest updates. This is not a decision that was made that day; these types of decisions are made several days/weeks in advance. The disorganization on my project should truly be a case study.

I redid the prep work making the changes he had requested and logged off for the day before I had to come back for maintenance that night. I went and hit on the wall for twenty minutes. Maddie got home a bit after me, and we took the dogs on a walk which was nice! We watched White Lotus until I had to get on for maintenance.
Maintenance took about two hours since there were a couple of failures that had to be addressed, but other than that, it went well. I ended up logging off at 9 PM (10 PM EST) and heading to bed.
Thanks for reading and see you tomorrow!
