Song of the Day: Work Out - Rainbow Kitten Surprise
Current Book: Tipping Point - Malcolm Gladwell
Yesterday was overall a pretty decent day for a workday. Since I'm doing maintenance work this week, my non-maintenance workload is fairly low (this is not typical).
I woke up around the normal time and proceeded to get my good hot-bean water. I logged on to work and checked my emails/chats. Luckily, nothing in there that I needed to address. I then got started on my small task for the day which was some edits to the internal documentation we use for one of our patching processes. If you've ever worked in a tech job, you would understand that there is a paradox around documentation. Good documentation is always needed, but it is either severely outdated or non-existent entirely. My personal belief is that this stems from the personality type that tech jobs typically attract. Now, I'm not saying I'm a great writer/communicator (you've read this blog enough to know that), but some of the documentation I've seen is just horrible.

The other part is that engineers are rarely given the time to actually maintain these documents, so we have to work it in where we can. That's precisely what I was aiming to do yesterday. Since I was doing the patching, I figured I'd go ahead and update the SOP (Standard Operating Procedure - another wonderful acronym).
I got started on that work, but I needed to take my walk (3.17 miles in 53 minutes) about an hour earlier than usual since I had a meeting during the normal time that I needed to attend. This is one of my favorite meetings (read that with sarcasm) to attend. It is what's referred to as the "Configuration Control Board Meeting" or "CCB" for short. I've discussed in the past that certain changes need to go through this process where change tickets are created and a bunch of fields answering questions need to be filled out. This meeting is wonderful because it allows the "supreme ruler" (SR for short) to ask questions that were already answered in the fields of the ticket. I'm convinced we hold the meeting because he may be illiterate, but that might be my tin-foil hat speaking.

He is also just a needlessly angry man, but that's enough about that for now.
The rest of the day I wrapped up that documentation. I logged off work at the appropriate time for once and undertook my biggest challenge of the day: taking both my dogs on a walk solo. I love them, but they are not the easiest dogs in the world to walk. Winnie (black and white) has the most anxiety you've ever seen in a dog, and Jojo is psychotic in a lovable way. I managed to successfully take them on a 25 minutes walk throughout the neighborhood which was quite nice. I'll be trying to do this more often.

After that, Maddie got home, and we went to Target to do some returns/pick up a new shirt. We got SONIC after which was a massive mistake because we were both kind of hungry. We got a fried chicken wrap thing that was not that good but did manage to make me feel like shit.

We then also got Panda Express to put on top of some fried rice we had made for dinner. I'm convinced I got robbed there though. $12 for a single entree.
After that, we headed home so that I could be on time for tennis at 6:30 (doubles with Jerry, Bryan, and Clark). It was a fun match, but I did not feel good the whole time. Funnily enough, the match lasted almost 3 hours though (Jerry and I won 7-5, 6-4). I headed home around 9:15 and ate dinner then quickly went to bed.
Thanks for reading and see you tomorrow!
